“Dark and stormy” wedding

A real show with a difficult direction. An exhibition where spectators were also actors and all of them gave their contribute to the final ovation!

The protagonists for once were not only the bride and groom…but the sea and the sky…

30^th and 31^st October 2008: in those days the stunning Ligurian sea, aroused by the stormy wind, offered a spectacular vision that we hadn’t seen for 50 years (we never saw it actually!): high and foaming waves, overflowed coastal docks, empty boats drifting… so much power could only be admired…impossible to tame it.

The wedding theme was actually “red and Japanese”: every detail was red, from the bride’s hairdo to the strawberry mousse of the sweets’ buffet…and that oriental style that the bride loved was the leit motiv of several details, from the invitations to the bridal gown and the flower arrangements to the rice paper lanterns used as table cards.

The “dark and stormy” however, beside being the background show of the 2 days wedding, was also the elixir of good cheer in perfect Bermudian style: dark rum and ginger beer, the good and sweet Burmudian drink which accompanied the open bar with speeches and dances all night long…

The bride, once back home wrote – “It was tough to get back and leave Italy as some very nice memories are anchored there now. The crazy week heading to the wedding, the three days that went like in a dream (I think the weather increases the drama of the whole thing and makes it even stronger !)”

At the end of this wedding we made some considerations: we are so much used to good weather, the sun shining and the blue sky on our Mediterranean land that it is difficult for us to think how much rain can be sweet sometimes, allowing everybody to be closer around those we love…so happened to Alex and Michael… they bring the sun with them inside!
