Is a land rich in art and archaeological itineraries found north of Rome crossing the ancient Via Francigena, the road that early pilgrims faced in their long voyage from Canterbury to the capital.
Plenty of evidence of the Etruscan civilization is still visible in th
e Tarquinia and Tuscania necropolis. Medieval villages and splendid palaces render the atmosphere rich and enchanting. The numerous natural and scenic sites create a region full of charm, beauty and interest: The Monster Park (Il Parco dei Mostri) in Bomarzo, the creation of an eccentric character from the 1500’s, is original, mysterious and a bit unsettling. Nestled in the mountains, the intensely blue waters of Vico lake reflect the splendid green forests that clothe the surrounding slopes. The beautiful islands of volcanic origin, Bisentina and Martana, emerge from Lake Bolsena. Among the little, friendly villages on its shores, one finds Bolsena where the Eucharistic miracle of Corpus Domini is conserved in the altar of Saint Christina church.
The Viterbese countryside is also full of many thermal baths which offer their visitors health and beauty treatments as well as treating their taste buds thanks to the famous culinary tradition of the region.
